4-stage thermoelectric coolers

Solid-state heatpumps, thermocoolers, thermoelectric coolers, Peltier or simply TECs - all these names refer to a device based on the Peltier-effect. TEC Microsystems GmbH is in a position to offer miniature thermoelectric coolers manufactured by the company RMT Ltd, an experienced maker specialized in micro cooling solutions for Laser and Optoelectronics Applications. There are more than 1000 standard types of thermoelectric coolers available. Cold sides range from 1 x 2 mm² to 18 x 18 mm², maximum current ranges from 0.3 to 10 Amp, dTmax - from 70°C in single stage up to 150°C in multi-stage configurations (specified at 27°C, vacuum).

Depending on size and performance all TE coolers are divided into several Series. We recommend the software TECCad for optimal thermoelectric cooler selecting and analysis at different conditions, or our On-Line TEC Select Assistant for fast search and selecting of the type you need for your application. MC Series of Single and Multi-Stage thermoelectric coolers

Basic large series designed for cooling and thermostabilization of microchips, IR instruments and elements of semiconductor quantum electronics. Due to the use of high quality materials, MC Series micro thermoelectric coolers provide increased dTmax and higher cooling capacity. Thermoelectric coolers are optimal for components of microelectronics by dimensions and power requirements. Many options are available: TEC shapes, terminal wires, surface finish and use of different high quality ceramics. MC Series consists of three Sub-Series by pellets cross-section, electrical parameters and performance options: MC04, MC06 and MC10.

2MDX04 Series thermoelectric coolers are based on high density pellets placement of MD04 Series and a combination of parallel and serial connections between pellets inside TEC. TECs have the same dimensions for top and bottom ceramics. Pellets cross-section is 0.4x0.4mm2.

MD Series of Single and Multi-Stage thermoelectric coolers

Feature of this new MD series of miniature thermoelectric coolers is in increased cooling capacity and very miniature dimensions possibility. Cooling power density of is up to 15 W/cm² (additionally up to 25 W/cm²). That is a result of increased density and very low profile of thermoelements - pellets.

The series consist of three Subseries: MD03, MD04 and MD06. More than 250 different thermoelectric cooler types are available, from single to four stage.

Single-stage Thermoelectric Coolers for Telecom Applications

Thermoelectric Coolers from this Series are specially optimized for cooling in DWDM applications. Typical telecom standard TECs of 17, 23, 29 and 35 couples (Bi-Te elements inside TEC) are available. Each type can be provided in different ceramics options: Alumina and Aluminum Nitride with different thicknesses.

Thermoelectric Coolers with Special Configurations

The classical connection between Bi-Te elements (pellets) inside thermoelectric coolers is serial. The typical way to change thermoelectric coolers electrical/performance parameters is in changing of pellet Bi-Te elements) height. However, there are several ways to modify the construction of TEC and obtain results, optimized for some custom applications, using combination of different pellet heights (for multi-stage TEC types), parallel connection instead of serial or a combination of both solutions.  

MP04 Series of two-stage TE coolers has been designed for applications where a relatively large cold side is required as well as two-stage cooling. MP TECs may be an efficient substitution of single-stage TECs. Coolers of the series have equivalent cold and hot sides:

MD04 TECs for Cooled TOSA. A range of miniature single-stage thermoelectric coolers based on MD04 Series and designed specially for cooled TOSA applications. These types are designed specially for coaxial TOSA and box-like TOSA MSA. Various dimensions and performance solutions are available. Each thermoelectric cooler type has six height and performance options. Thin ceramics and Wire Bonding contacts are applied as standard. Thermoelectric Coolers for Telecom Applications with increased Cooling Capacity

Based on High Density pellets placement technology thermoelectric coolers of 1MDL06 Series have about 40% more pellets (elements inside TEC) on the same size as standard thermoelectric cooler.
