Two-stage TECs of 2MX04 type have a revised commutation between BiTe pellet pairs inside the second stage. The special mix of serial and parallel commutation increases the number of pellets on the top stage. This helps to avoid classical pyramidal shape of the multistage TEC and get more space for the object to be cooled. The balanced stage coefficient (the ratio between the number of pellets on the top and bottom stages) is achieved by pellets height adjustment. That's why the 2-stage TECs in MX group have BiTe pellets in the 2nd stage higher than in the 1st stage. Such a method allows the enlargement of TEC cold side, increases the mechanical endurance of the TEC second stage with more pellets installed, and keeps the optimal cooling performance without increasing current or voltage. 2MX TE coolers are perfect for X-Ray and IR detector applications. All 2MX04 TECs are assembled using RoHS-compliant Sn-Sb solder (Tmelt=230ºC) and meet Telcordia GR-486 standard requirements. The most common MX-type thermoelectric types are listed in the table below.
